If you have not over seeded your lawn and it is dormant it is a great time for you to add a small layer of compost to help with many problems that you may or may not be having. After spreading as evenly as you can about 1-2 inches with a shovel you can rake the compost a little smother. You can use a broom to sweep the compost down below the leaves of the lawn.
