Landscaping in the winter???
Check this out and we will show you a few things to keep you busy in the garden even when little is growing. When you are in the middle of winter you can do a few things to keep on top of your chores for the summer time.
If you have not over seeded your lawn and it is dormant it is a great time for you to add a small layer of compost to help with many problems that you may or may not be having. If you have access to an aerator run it across your lawn before you start for better results. Remember to watch for sprinkler heads and other surface items buried in the lawn.
After spreading as evenly as you can about 1-2 inches with a shovel you can rake the compost a little smother. You can use a broom to sweep the compost down below the leaves of the lawn. You do not want to cover the leaves so make sure you get it down everywhere their is grass. In the warmer areas you can use the water hose to wash the compost down below the leaves of the grass.
When you are done you will be using organic practices for everything from soil amendments to fertilizer, PH control, water retention and even pest and fungus control.
